SIGN UP: https://volunteer.scholastic.com/#/signup/bBkOVZiPD Check out this new digital eWallet payment option: http://www.scholastic.com/bf/foresttrailes1 Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for your help! There has been a lot of activity in the library this month! Grades 1 & 2 have been reviewing the elements of a story with a "retelling rope" and creating skeletons out of Q-tips to go along with the book Skeleton Hiccups. Kindergarten has been studying pumpkins and a spooky alphabet. Fourth grade learned about sensory imagery using an interactive Nearpod app lesson which included a virtual field trip to a pumpkin patch. Grades 3-5 completed missions in the Goose Chase App for a library scavenger hunt. Students had fun in groups while reviewing how to find books in the fiction, nonfiction, biography, and picture book sections of the library.
Valley View librarian, Patti Iles, was kind enough to invite the FTE 4th and 5th graders to participate in an author visit from Sheila Turnage on Sept. 11th. Turnage has written an award winning series about two 6th graders called Mo and Dale. They solve mysteries in a small North Carolina town. The author shared details about her inspiration for the series, her writing process, and her idyllic life in North Carolina.
